It’s safe to say Regional Sales Manager knows nearly every aspect of Enercept SIPs: He’s done it all when it comes to production and sales.
Bernie grew up around Watertown, South Dakota, and graduated from nearby South Shore High School. He started working for Enercept shortly after finishing high school in 1986.
“I just applied for a job and got it,” Bernie says. Nearly 33 years later, he’s still part of the Enercept team.
“Bernie started out literally sweeping the floor,” says fellow RSM Neal Mack. Bernie later was working in shipping, a highly detail-oriented area. He moved on to other areas but stepped up to handle the shipping for the Antarctica project – making arrangements for 54 semi loads of panels which would comprise the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station to make their way to the building site.
“He handled it amazingly well,” Neal says, adding it was no small task. Bernie’s attention to detail was (and still is) evident in his work.
“I pretty much worked in every area on the floor,” Bernie recalls of his earlier days with Enercept. He learned the process from start to finish, rendering his product knowledge second to none.
And once he’d done all there was to do in production and shipping, he decided he wanted to make a change.
“In 1999, I went into sales,” Bernie says of the role he’s played on the Enercept team for nearly 20 years now.
“Customers love him,” Neal says.
Apparently, that feeling is mutual. When asked about favorite projects, Bernie couldn’t choose one. He much prefers the people behind the projects.
“I like meeting new people,” Bernie says, “I enjoy helping people out with building their homes.”
He also likes the fact that our products make the construction process easier and give home owners and end users the many benefits of building with SIPs.
Family is also important to Bernie. He and his wife, Rebecca, have two children: daughter McKenzie is a junior in college and son, Cameron, recently graduated from college. A recent family vacation took Bernie and family to Florida, but he prefers to stay a bit closer to home.
During his spare time, Bernie enjoys golf and Mountain Dew – lots of Mountain Dew. And more golf. (Did we mention he likes golf?) He can often be found on the links near, wherever and whenever he can.
Working from his home office in Hartford, Bernie serves parts of eastern and all of western South Dakota as well as the states of Wyoming and Montana, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Louisiana.
