Enercept Takes Home Four 2017 SIPA Building Excellence Awards

Earlier this week the Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) held their Annual Meeting and Conference in Austin, TX.  During this meeting the winners of the 2017 SIPA Building Excellence Awards were announced.

Three Enercept buildings took first place in their respective categories; a forth project was first place runner-up:

  • West River Vet Clinic in Hettinger, ND,  took 1st Place in the Agricultural Category.
  • Al's A1 Pheasant Ranch in Emery, SD, took 1st Place in the Commercial, Industrial and Institutional >10,000 sq. ft. Category.
  • Ideation Design Group building in Phoenix, AZ took 1st Place in the Commercial, Industrial and Institutional <10,000 sq. ft. Category.
  • Tippet Rise Arts Center's Olivier Barn in Fishtail, MT was the runner up in the Commercial, Industrial and Institutional <10,000 sq. ft. Category.

To compete in the competition Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) must be used on a minimum of 50 percent of the building envelope.  The project must also have been completed in 2016.

Project entries are judged on energy efficiency, design and structural engineering innovation, creative use of SIP construction and environmental sustainability.

Over the next four weeks, I will be back to share details and photos from each of these projects and provide updates with new information and photos.

This is always a very tough competition in the SIPs industry.  Here at Enercept, we are very fortunate to work with innovative and talented designers and builders; their abilities continue to make Enercept better. They challenge us to constantly move forward in the drafting, design and manufacturing of Structural Insulated Panels. And, we thank them.

At Enercept we like to say structural insulated panels (SIPs) are "the future of framing". SIPs construction includes many of the same components as traditional construction, but offers the benefits of a stronger structure, increased energy efficiency, faster installation and overall, a more cost-effective project.
