Enercept Goes to Spain

7/13/05 - In a period of increasing trade deficits, Enercept, Inc., Custom SIPs Manufacturer shipped a home package to the Port of Bilbao on Spain's northern coast in late April, 2005. While shipping over seas is not new to Enercept, having also sent projects to Japan and the Antarctic, it is always exciting and creates unique challenges. The most difficult part of shipping abroad, according to Al Koch, customer service coordinator at Enercept, is that everything is enclosed and nothing can hang over the edge or stick out of the top of the container. "It is important to make sure everything is loaded and secured properly inside of the container." states Koch.

The customer, who is a legal resident of Spain, first learned about Enercept SIPs at The Log Home and Timber Frame Show in Madison, WI in 2004. "He (Dr. Schoengrund) became very interested in Enercept SIPs and the application of blending the old traditional buildings in Spain with the new energy efficient technology of structural insulated panels." said Ron Gleysteen, regional sales manager at Enercept. Schoengrund, along with construction manager, Thomas Eibing from Germany, toured the Enercept plant in November, 2004.

The container arrived in Spain in early June 2005. "All went more or less well." reported Dr. Schoengrund. Actual construction was expected to begin on June 20th, or as soon as the floor is ready.
