SIPS Superior Strength - Hurricanes, Earthquakes and More
Structural insulated panels provide shelter from the storm
The combination of rigid foam insulation bonded to OSB sheathing forms a virtual I-beam of strength.
Enercept panels have been tested by a certified third party agency and maintain ICC code approval. When tested by RADCO for racking shear strength, the Enercept 6" wall panel out-performed a standard stud wall at 220 pounds per lineal foot racking resistance.
Florida Hurricanes
Following the hurricanes of 2004 we did some checking with a couple of our customers in Florida. One home took two direct hits, the other endured the strong sustained winds of Hurricane Jeanne for nearly 36 hours. Both homeowners reported the loss of several large trees and water damage around patio doors. Both homes were still standing with little or no damage.
We held the Ozello County Rescue Meeting (during Hurricane Opal in 1995) in our Enercept home...
Everyone was impressed with the safe feeling the house gave them - similar to watching a bad storm on a big screen TV with the sound turned down! As one builder put it, "Somewhere between a pyramid and the Tower of Babel."

Crane accident
Got walls?

Recently one builder had a mishap with his crane, seems it tipped over one evening. Thankfully, no one was injured - neither were our Enercept SIP walls.
(The stick trusses, however, were not so lucky.)
